Sigma Chi GPA Ranks Second Among IFC

Gamma Xi gives its 2010 update. Currently there are 44 active members with three new members joining this spring. In scholastics the house GPA for the Fall of 2009 was 2.76 including new members. The GPA average is 2.72 for all men at the University of Wyoming. Gamma Xi ranks 2nd amongst all fraternities.

Some of the highlights from the Fall of 2009 and Spring of 2010 are the Brotherhood Retreat, the initiation of 15 new members, Giving Back to the Community, the Second Annual Cardboard Sled Derby.

The Brotherhood Retreat was held at a Boy Scout Camp named Camp Tahosa in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. The weekend was spent participating in team building challenges and high rope courses. It was a great time to get out of Laramie and spend some quality time with friends.

This past fall the chapter put together a solid new member class through the skills used from 365 Recruitment. The guys have worked very hard throughout the semester and earned the highest new member GPA among all fraternities.

 In October, we put on a Halloween pumpkin carving contest for the Greater Wyoming Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization. We were able to get 100 pumpkins donated by different companies in the Laramie community.  This event was a lot of fun and everyone got to carve a pumpkin.

The Second Annual Cardboard Sled Derby was held in January, 2010.  This year’s turnout exceeded all expectations with 18 different sleds registered. Teams ranged from student organizations, UW faculty and Laramie community families.

During the week of April 19-24 the Derby Days will be held with the Rubber Ducky Race on Saturday, April 24.
